Snow-cation Flower Pot Heads

  • Snow-cation Flower Pot Heads

We had a pretty massive snow last month – 8 – 10 inches – and then some nasty ice as well. The ice is not unusual around here but that amount of snow certainly is. School ended up being cancelled for eight days, so I had quite a bit of time on my hands. I was able to work on a clay project I’ve had on my mind for some time.

I have made larger flower pot heads in the past and I have been wanting to make smaller pieces for my succulent collection. I saw an image on Pinterest that I really liked and it helped me come up with a construction plan. I could create a pinch pot for the head and a pinch pot for the shoulders.

I added fun facial features, ears, and shirt details. I finished the pieces with four different celadon glazes that I topped with the celadon snow. I especially like how the green celadon – jade – turned out with snow layered over it. I’ve combined jade and snow many times in the past but only with snow under the jade.

I really like how these turned out and it was nice to have an opportunity to construct and finish all the pieces in a reasonable amount of time. <3
