Last night I was able to take a really chill, relaxing, no pressure paper collage workshop. We started off talking about how to safely use all the cutting tools and then chose three fairly large papers. We were then instructed to cut large shapes from each paper. Smaller shapes emerged from the cutouts and scraps and we began assembling our pieces.
I was thinking about using mostly organic, curvy shapes and Matisse’s cutouts came to mind. I was fine with keeping my piece abstract but the greens and pink made me think of the outdoors. And then I started thinking about the overlapping greens as a cozy place for an animal to hide out and sleep. I love foxes and I thought the orange would be a really nice contrast. He is made from tissue paper and I added paint marker details. <3
