I think this is my fifth pitcher attempt? The actual form is quite good and I can tell I’m making progress with the construction of the pitchers. Unfortunately this one “bloated” in the glaze kiln. It has a mix of small and large goiter-like bumps all over the piece. Very weird. My pottery teacher said the piece was possibly over-fired, or it was in a very hot spot in the kiln, or there might be something wrong with the kiln. The dark clay might also be problematic. I’ve never seen this before, so I deciding to see as a learning experience. I’m disappointed but I think I overdid it with the butterfly transfers anyway. The piece got so hot that the glaze turned blue on the inside, which is pretty cool. Unfortunately, I don’t think i’ll be keeping this one.
