I love this little guy! I started sculpting him using pinch pots during the first session of my current hand building course. I have never sculpted a bird before but decided on a whim to go for it. I don’t know if he resembles any actual bird but I’m a big fan of his wings and little face!
I had to have him fired twice in the glaze fire. The results from the first glaze firing were sad – the glaze looked splotchy, dull, and very underwhelming. I was super disappointed because I love the build and shape of him. I talked to someone at my studio and apparently an element had gone out in a kiln and as a result, the pieces were under-fired. Thankfully, they ran him back through a firing and I got these fantastic results! I used the glazes fog and ABG. I just love him!
