During my hand building class this summer, we did monoprinting on clay using underglaze, slips, and mason stains.
This was such a fun process. We used different sized press molds with clay slabs to create the plate forms. We created the images on newsprint paper, working in reverse – the black underglaze outlines came first, then the color of the fruit and veggies, and lastly the colored slip.
I loved creating these and hope to make more of various sizes with different images very soon!
