So relieved and glad to have some gnomes come out of the kiln with no fogginess in the clear glaze! 🙂

These gnomes were made with the scraps from some garden masks that are in progress. They are red clay, which I love working with but it does require me to paint everything with white underglaze before I add the colors. I do this because I want the colors to pop.

I did attempt to make my own white slip in hopes of saving some money, but it was too chunky. So I’ll have to go back to that when I have a bit more time. I’ll probably stick with the store bought white underglaze until I can make some consistent white slip. I’m feeling a bit impatient these days.

It looks like the new turquoise underglaze I bought is on the thin side, so in the future I will add more than three layers and see if that makes a difference. Fingers crossed.

Otherwise, I’m really happy with these friends – especially the smaller gnomes!<3
