Due to some stressful conditions at work – teaching during a pandemic is not for the faint of heart – my artmaking slowed down quite a bit. I’m still trying to make gnomes (my go to clay project) as much as possible and even had a fun commissioned gnomette that I completed in September.

This adorable gnomette was made in the spring of 2022 and is one of the smallest, if not the smallest gnomette I’ve ever made.

I experimented more with pink underglaze and finally had some luck. I applied more than the typical three layers of underglaze and finally got a pink that didn’t burn out in the kiln! Success!

The pink gnomette is a commissioned piece for a neighbor.
