Last week I mentioned that my Lady Bug Mask gave me Darth Maul vibes – this week my grasshopper mask is giving me Elpahba vibes. 😉

I’m really happy with how the mask turned out – I LOVE this green underglaze. It’s called cactus, but it gives me major matcha feels – which is one of my favorite drinks and colors. It’s the largest mask I’ve made in awhile and it was nice to have the larger surface area to draw/carve on.

I made sure to not overdo the carvings and leave some space for the eye to rest. I learned from the overdone-ness of the lady bugs on my previous mask.

This mask is made with a red clay body. I love the contrast of the dark carving lines with the bright green. And once again thanks to the combo of the red clay, the black underglaze, and the clear glossy glaze, there are hints of blue in some spots.:)

I can’t believe I’ve made seven masks within four months – two of them sold! I never thought these masks would appeal to anyone other than myself. I have a couple more possible bug/insect images in my head – I hope I can get those masks made before the holidays.
