Whenever I get time off work, usually in the summer or around the winter holidays, I love to take day trips to Art Museums. I mostly frequent museums in Nashville and Atlanta. I especially love the Frist Art Museum in Nashville and the High Art Museum in Atlanta.

All of the visits posted below were before the pandemic. I hope to resume museum day trips this summer – they always make my soul happy and are great for inspiration. I’m also quite fond of a museum gift shop. 😉

In May of 2016, I was able to visit the High in Atlanta to see the exhibit “Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks”. This was an awesome opportunity to see rare notebooks by the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Whenever I’m in Atlanta, I love to visit the Center for Puppetry Arts. It’s an incredible place with amazing exhibits that always leaves me feeling nostalgic for all my Jim Henson-filled childhood memories.

In May of 2018, I was fortunate enough to visit the Biltmore in Asheville, NC and see Chihuly at Biltmore. This exhibit was really special because it featured Chihuly’s glass pieces amongst the gorgeous gardens and landscaping of the Biltmore. It was just such a beautiful experience.

In January 2019, I was extremely lucky to secure a ticket to see Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors at the High Museum. This immersive, interactive exhibit was just incredible. From the All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins room, to the INFINITY MIRRORED ROOM—THE SOULS OF MILLIONS OF LIGHT YEARS AWAY, to The Obliteration Room – this was an experience I’ll never forget. I was lucky to experience this exhibit with friends who were equally blown away! <3

In July 2019, I visited the Frist Art Museum in Nashville to experience “Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism”. As a huge Kahlo fan, this was an incredible exhibit that included paintings and photographs of Kahlo and Rivera. Again, I was lucky enough to attend with a friend who is also a huge Kahlo fan. <3
