Kitty Tile

  • Kitty Tile

This tile and my previous tile were both slab rolled back in November. But due to life getting busy around the end of the semester and the holidays, I didn’t start any carving or underglazing until January.

I kept the tiles wrapped up in plastic so that they could stay wet and workable. Initially I didn’t really know what I was going to do with this tile. I had a vision for the snake tile but I kept changing my mind with this piece. I added the raised circles and I thought I would do something abstract with shapes. But I changed my mind about that. Then I thought the circles could be flower centers. And then it occurred to me that I should add the silly cat images!

Once I settled on the images, everything came together and I am just so happy with how fun and silly the piece came out!
