Carved Mug

  • Carved Mug

I made this mug using a brown clay but I really liked the idea of doing black and white underglaze on top, with the brown peeking through on the bottom. This is a hand-built mug and I had also made a pitcher that looked very similar. Unfortunately the handle broke on the pitcher after the bisque firing. The handle may have been too dry when I was working with it and attaching it. Pottery always teaches me the lesson to not fall in love with the piece until it’s complete.

I was looking on google images for flower designs and I came across a continuous flower line drawing and I loved it and had to use a similar idea for this piece. Sad about the pitcher but really like the mug. <3
